Conventional Wisdumb
– The Manifesto
The mission of Conventional Wisdumb is the
relentless pursuit of the truth, wherever it
leads, whatever the result. By pursuing the
truth and revealing it we destroy the number one
enemy of prosperity and freedom – Ignorance.
Is there such a thing
as truth?
I fervently and passionately believe that truth
exists and that there are new truths yet to be
discovered. Truth is precious.
Why is it important to
pursue truth in all its forms?
Because ignorance is the most expensive and
dangerous commodity in the world today and has
created more death and tragedy than any natural
disaster in human history. Ignorance is the
cause of some of the greatest human tragedies in
history including religious intolerance (The
Holocaust), scientific frauds (eugenics),
economic disasters, such as Communism which has
resulted in the deaths of hundreds of millions
of people and the enslavement of more than a
billion people on the earth.
The greatest form of intellectual fraud and
ignorance today is Conventional Wisdom.
What is Conventional
Wisdom?
A generally accepted "truth" based upon a
falsehood.
Conventional Wisdom becomes “True” in the public
mind through unwitting and endless repetition or
more ominously, by Agenda-driven manipulation
achieved through the efforts of willing
accomplices.
Conventional Wisdom =
Conventional Wisdumb
Conventional Wisdumb permeates our society in so
many aspects of our lives including Politics,
Science, Health, Education, Economics, and
History that it is an almost overwhelming task
for one person to counter but with your help it
can be done.
How do we combat
Conventional Wisdumb?
The reason ignorance exists is that many people
fail to apply critical reasoning and skepticism
to many of the positions put forward in the
media and by trusted sources.
Why do we choose to believe everything we read
or hear just because it appears in a newspaper,
on TV, on the radio, in books, or by word of
mouth?
In fact, “Good Intentions” often act as a
substitute for critical and rational thinking
and can be easily manipulated by mendacious
individuals with a vested interest in seeing a
particular course of action happen. As a
consequence, many decisions are made based upon
how people “feel” about the issue rather than
the merits (good or bad) of the decision which
often results in unintended and deadly
consequences. As an example, the banning of DDT
has resulted in the preventable deaths of
millions of Africans from malaria all in the
name of well-intentioned and misled people.
Good Intentions can
kill.
In conclusion, my promise to you is to pursue
the truth wherever it leads whether I like it or
not.
In words that have defined my life:
“To thine own self be true, and it must follow,
as the night the day, thou canst not then be
false to any man.”
Polonius, Hamlet - William Shakespeare
